WSM Bristol – Car Boot Sale

In October a couple of the Bristol team took a very full car to the Easter Compton car boot sale. We managed to raise an amazing  £108 for WSM Bristol. It was a fun experience and despite the windy weather we were pleasantly surprised at how well our items sold.

Then in November we took another loaded car on a Saturday to the Bristol Fruit Market. We raised a staggering £97.  We also came home triumphant with a Samba goal which will come in handy at our GET Sported camps.  We managed to haggle it down to £25 from £40, it even has a rugby attachment!

We are grateful for the support we have had from family and friends and it is with huge thanks to our generous providers who donated everything we sold. We are planning to carry over items to our next car boot sale on February 11th and would be keen to hear from you if you have anything that you would like to part company with. Praise God for an amazing experience and lessons learned.

October’s MenUnited

On Saturday 1st October, we partnered again with MenUnited to help stage and host a great mens breakfast with Christian Surfers UK Director Phil Williams speaking, followed by the live screening of the England v Scotland Rugby World Cup match at the Slug & Lettuce Bar in central Bath. Almost 100 men came including many new guests to hear Phil share his life story and how God is moving through his ministry on the waves and beaches. It was a brilliant morning and many were challenged to really trust God and live by faith as Phil continues to demonstrate.

October’s Kick Off

The 2nd tournament after the Sumer break was well attended with four teams and some subs as well! A hard but fair contest took place with each team playing each other to find the top two teams to play off in the Final. The third v fourth places were played for as well . The ‘not above head height’ rule added an extra challenge!

Grant asked us to discuss the Tevez affair! Should Tevez, if he actually did, be allowed to refuse to play in a game? How was it handled? If Tevez said sorry and promised to play whole heartedly for the rest of the season should he be allowed to stay/play? Parallels with the ” prodigal son  ” were highlighted to thought provoke us.

After the play offs we had a nail biting penalty shoot  out competition followed by the awards! Liquid refreshments and food were happily downed in the pub afterwards!

October’s Netball Night

Another grand evening for the Netballers! After an energetic warm up and nifty drills we moved on to our hotly contested game – all the way to a penalty shoot out! Well done Emily Marquez-Vega on scoring her team’s winning net and Katie Deal on being named Player of the Tournament. Why not bring a team along to November’s event on the 14th? See you there!
