Celebrating Christmas with 120 children in Bath & Frome invovled Football tournaments, Frisbee tournaments, and lots of festive party games! The children explored what it means to be a ‘Shining Star’, incorporating all the character qualities we’ve looked at this year. In our glittering Wrap-Up, our fantastic Presenters awarded certificates to their fellow team mates who had been voted ‘Shining Star’ of the day.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all the families who have supported and enjoyed GET Sported this year – and to all the coaches and volunteers who have made this year such an exciting time of growth and development.
We wish you all a wonderful, joyful Christmas and look forward to more GET Sported fun in 2012!
What a finale to our WSM year! A packed festive Netball Night – girls, boys and reindeer antlers! Very evenly matched teams, so the resulting 3-way penalty shoot out was a real nail biter! Congrats to the Roaming Magi who one by a single Net, and to Dan for being named Player of the Tournament. Very physical and fast paced – can’t wait for more in 2012
December’s Kick Off saw our veterans mixing with the next generation of footy stars – and high energy play resulted! Congrats to Sam who was unanimously voted Player of the Tournament. See you in Feb when Kick Off 2012 … kicks off! p.s Ian’s team talk takeaway – what would YOU do if you knew you only had two minutes left to live?!
The last Teen Kick Off of the 2011 season saw 20 lads form 4 teams for a round robin league. A great atmosphere was created through music and other team support from the balcony and stands – plus siblings and parents cheering on their sides!
With around 8 new players this time, it was interesting to see some man-marking enter the game. Each team having their own manager/coach is creating a large fun element with some unique encouragement and tactic-talking going on. Congrats to the winning team ‘The Brodie Boys’ and man of match Matt.
It’s never too late in the year for ice cream and the quiz/team talk explored our Walks of Life – about half the lads attending were unchurched and we were able to have some great discussions. A really encouraging and enjoyable night – bring on next year!!
