To start and support Sports Ministry Teams that reach communities throughout the world.
Sport and music are the biggest influences in life today. Every day, millions of people, young and old either play, spectate or have a health related interest through sport and leisure; what a mission field this is! Sport is a language in itself, it transcends culture, language, race, religion, age, gender and politics. Nelson Mandela said: “Sport has the power to change the world, it has the power to unite people in a way that little else does”. More importantly, Jesus taught in Matthew 25 to use the talents that God has given us, the Apostle Paul said that he would become like a person to relate to them and reach them in 1 Corinthians 9, and Peter said that we should use whatever gift given to us by God to minister to others. (1 Peter 4:10)
Sport cannot save, only Jesus can and He told believers to make disciples of all nations; He doesn’t desire one person to remain lost and without Him and neither do we; so as couriers of His great message and light, we have to connect with people where they are at and for as many as 80% of them, that’s within the world of sport.
