PGB Tour: 15th August 2011

We took 5 GET Sported families for a tour of the British Paralympic Training Camp, held at Bath Uni in the run up to 2012. We had a really fun afternoon and it was lovely to deepen relationships over a picnic. It was great to see the children so interested in Paralympic sport and inspired by the Paralympic athletes – including autographs from the WheelChair Tennis number 1 and 2!

WSM Bath members then volunteered on the PGB Training Camp the following weekend - serving these world class athletes in this internationally renowned sports facility was an unique and special experience. Tickets for the 2012 Paraylmpic Games are now being hotly snapped up!

WSM Kenya – NPC Buruburu Soccer Clinic

On Saturday 26th June WSM Kenya partnered with NPC Buruburu to host a soccer clinic.

William, WSM Kenya Director said, “We had good time and 43 children gave their life to the lord. It was a wonderful Saturday with over 140 children attended the event. WSM leaders conducted the sports clinic together with NPC, Buruburu. The event was the first ever to target kids of between 8 and 12yrs.We intend to hold another in August. We appreciate and thank God for all that took place.”

Bristol 6-a-side Tournament

WSM held their second tournament at the Park and it was a great success. Over 50 participants came and played in 6 teams over the evening. It looked like it was going to be a clear win but at the end of a couple fifteen minute games the points were very close for a couple of teams. Pip n Jay and Gunning for Glory duked it out for their place in the semi final. It was a great tournament with some new winners this week. Pip n’Jay won this time, well done boys.  Our next tournament will be held on Tuesday 26th July at 7pm.

Bath – June Netball

Our Netball evening continued on a high! Great to have new faces joining us and competition was fierce in the end of night match – Light Blues pressuring all the way but Navys managed to keep their cool to win those coffee shop vouchers – enjoy ladies!! Our coach Nadia Charania gave her testimony to waiting on God and the certainty of His plan for each of us – very encouraging. and congratulations Emily Marquez-Vega on her Player of the Tournament medal, all those goals were stupendous!!

Young Leaders Training Day

We had such a great day with 20 of our Young Leaders last week, equipping and developing them as sports coaches. The talented teens planned and led us adults in warm ups, coaching sessions, Beat the Coach, and refereeing matches; all of which we thoroughly enjoyed! These YLs are a great asset to GET Sported and will be assisting on the summer Camps - you can expect some highly entertaining Beat the Coach sessions! A big well done to all 20 – they gave us a fantastic day. We saw them grow in confidence and skill and they put their all into the learning. If you would like to know more about our Young Leader Programme (for 13-17yrs) please contact us.  Rachaele at worldsportministries.com
