Great time with youth at last night’s Teen Kick Off.

Young Leader Coaching Day – April

Yahoooo – what a fab day with our Young Leaders!! We had an ace time, and in the sun too! The Young Leaders were designing and leading coaching sessions based on foundational skills of their chosen sport, reflecting on the foundations of their character, learning more about the foundations of faith and demonstrating the roots of mission. We ended with competitive matches in basketball and cricket – one win a piece!! Thank you Young Leaders for a fantastic day together :)

GET Sported Easter – Bath and Frome

We enjoyed 2 fantastic Camps with 128 children – really warm, relaxed and nurturing (warm in spirit I mean, not in temperature, quite the opposite!). The special atmosphere was noticed by parents, staff and children, God’s presence was really tangible. We explored 3 character qualities needed to be a ‘Sporting Star’; generosity, compassion and righteousness.

“The Camp was amazing, the only place my children have ever said they can’t wait to go back to” Parent

“GET Sported is what an amazing school would be like if there were no lessons and everyone was really, really kind all the time!” Tabitha

“I loved the wonder of praying along with the children and hearing the feather of whispers around the group as they were taking Jesus into their hearts” Leader

20 Re(Commitments), 30 bible giveaways, 9 sports plus performing arts and chill-out-craft!

Easter Get Sported Camp – Bristol

It was a three days of getting messy with some great children. We had some behavioural challenges but could see how massively God is working in the lives of these children. He was also working in ours and we rejoiced as we saw growth within ourselves handling tricky situations. This camp we thank God for deepening our relationships within our community and connecting us with new alliances. We also thank God for our amazing Young Leaders who inspired us, showed great maturity, patience and compassion towards the children.

During the week the team prayed to see attitude and behavioural changes in a few of children. God delivered. The  following day we saw marked improvements. One of the boys won the daily character award and by the end of the week some of those children asked to be friends of Jesus.

Over the week we had 6 salvations and 8 children took away sports bibles.

One of the coaches reported:
I had one boy in my group called J, who has ADHD and who was referred from his School as someone who would really benefit from Get Sported.  At times Josh was hard to engage and displayed some challenging behaviour, but at times he had some brilliant moments such as helping a younger child with some catching tasks.  During the course of the camp I also learned that Josh’s Grandfather had died the previous week, which I was able to help him process slightly.  He is also a very intelligent boy, seen when he was helping someone else write a note for the prayer box.  I encouraged Josh whenever I saw these qualities in him and at the end of the camp he took a bible.  Josh has the ability to read and learn from the bible so my prayer is that God would transform him as he does so.
