Top way to round off the year with full-team matches and competitive play. The ladies and men have been gelling well together over the last few months and the standard of play in the mixed teams is high. Good effort on the santa hats and reindeer antlers too!
Well done Katie Louise Deal - player of the tournament for being constantly strong in all the positions she played.
Following on from Kay Addyman‘s message about the true amazingness of Christmas (with penalty shoot out to demonstrate!) , we wish all our Netballers a joy-filled Christmas season and look forward to seeing y’all in the new year, K
GET Sported spent a fun-filled half term with 90 children across Bath & Frome. Sport & activities were themed around being Despair Busters, Joy Bringers and Assurance Builders in Bath (expressed in the Psalms), whilst Frome explored the character traits Justice, Mercy & Humility (Micah 6:8).
We have wonderful stories from parents and leaders of: children becoming friends with Jesus and praying together; behavioural breakthrough; improved confidence. 2 families were bridged into churches in Frome – praise the Lord!
We ended our 2012 year of GET Sported with a Glitz n’ Glow party theme and some outrageous fancy dress!
4 teams battled it out in our most competitive mixed Netball Night to date! The tournament went down to the wire with the final match proving the decider - congratulations to Team Kiwi for their well fought victory.
Player of the Tournament went to a newcomer Jonny for his impressive skills. Gemma’s testimony was particularly relevant for those involved in the sporty student scene and encouraged many.
See you all next month for more mixed Netball action – 15th November at Ralph Allen School
We had an awesome summer on GET Sported Bath & Frome – 80 children gave their lives to Jesus!! We gave away 50 bibles to those who asked for them and we know that many children received their bible on previous Camps. There was a real sense of God’s flow and delight over our GET Sported campuses – children, leaders and parents were all reveling in His presence.
Over the 3 weeks 280 children we cared for by 40 adults & Young Leaders. Our coaches delivered 16 different sport & activities – ranging from Sitting Volleyball & Boccia to Hockey & Frisbee to Drama & Choir, as well as all our regular events! GET Soaked Thursday was a sure fire hit, with water games, water fights and 60 foot water slide!
Leaders’ Highlights: “The childlike faith of my small group as we prayed for a fresh encounter of Jesus’ love” ; “Jack’s development in just 4 days is a testiment to the atmosphere on GET Sported – he’s become so relaxed & confident compared to when I coach him at school” ; “Rowan learnt to tie his shoe laces in Pre-Camp Care!” ; “My small group experienced a complete spirit change from wild & distracted to sincere & engaged. Such a transformation was an exciting encounter with the Holy Spirit and 5 children journeyed on to respond to Jesus’ friendship”.
We can’t wait for October Camp to enjoy more sport, friendship and Jesus! If you would like to attend either as a child or a volunteer please do visit our website www.getsported.org
